Lauren Graham is the daughter of Donna Grant, an American Candy lobbyist, and Lawrence Graham. She was born on Honolulu Island, Hawaii. Her father came born in New York and her mother was born in The American South, and Lauren has Irish, English, and Scottish ancestral roots. Her parents were of Northern Virginia, USA. They are Fairfax, Arlington, Great Falls, VA. She received her bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University in acting with a master's degree. She was the sole caregiver for her father. She was 5 when the parents split up. She wanted to be jockey in her youth but because of her height, it wasn't possible. The family traveled all over the world with their father during her early years. When she was in elementary school she became interested in acting.
